Politics and Popular Culture

This course examines the relationship between politics and popular culture. Special attention is paid to the role of popular culture in the formation of social relations and identities, including gender, race, and class. The idea of popular culture as a space where political discourses are produced, reproduced, and contested is also considered. PREREQ: 12 credits in POLI. (lec 3) cr 3.
