Organizational Theory

This course examines the nature and role of formal organizations and bureaucracies in the contemporary world. The classical, critical and managerial traditions, as well as recent social science perspectives, are the tools used to understand both organizations and bureaucracies. The focus on formal organizations in the public and private sectors employs theoretical readings and a case-study approach. Prerequisite: 18 university credits. (lec 3) 3 cr.
