Indigenous Arts of the Americas Retrospective and Tradition

This course traces the development of Indigenous artistic expression from traditional to modern times. These art forms are examined as cultural expressions of spiritual beliefs, legends, and symbolism. Contemporary expressions are also examined as evolving out of traditional forms and as reflections of modern concerns and influences. (lec 1.5, exp 1.5) cr 6. Note: This course incorporates a practical application of Indigenous art forms. No previous art training is required. Students may not retain credit for both INDG 2505 and NATI 2505.
