Critical Perspectives in Medical Anthropology

This is course will examine the major theories in medical anthropology. It takes a critical approach to understanding contemporary medical anthropology and focuses on illness and experience, the body, biotechnologies, global health and postcolonial disorders. Theories are examined within a comparative historical and postcolonial framework. Prerequisite: ANTR 3086 or instructor's permission (lec 3), 3 cr.
