Visual Ethnography

Visual ethnography is the study and interpretation of social organisations and cultures in everyday life using photography and film. Beginning with a critical analysis of how the visual entered social science research, this course will move towards contemporary approaches that highlight the embodied and sensory dimensions of the visual. Students will complete image-based projects in order to gain necessary practical skills associated with visually conveying socio-cultural practice and lived experience. Prerequisite of 18 university credits(Lec 2, Exp 1) 3 c.
